Welcome
Thanks for joining me on my first journey to the Middle East. Depending on how often I can borrow a friend's laptop, I hope to share a few stories and photos with you along the way.

Jordan at a Glance
- Jordan is 10 hours ahead of Seattle and Pacific time.
- Temps in summer range from highs in the 100s to lows in the 80s.
- The language is Arabic, written right to left. I know how to write my first name.
- Petra is one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
- The currency is Jordanian dinars, or JD.
- Jordan's neighbors are Syria (to the north), Iraq (to the northeast), Saudi Arabia (to the east), and Israel (to the west). Egypt is a ferry ride away from the port city of Aqaba.
- Jordan is a constitutional monarchy, with a king and queen.
- Amman, the capital, was once called Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love.
